THE BROOM MILL WORKING WATERWHEEL
The early Broom Mill with working waterwheel was here in 1691 - and this important part of the area's history has been lovingly restored by Matthew and Tracy. So please do come and see the power of running water and the spinning waterwheel at the renovated old mill building - and gain a glimpse of the rich heritage of this area's past times.
THE MILL POND AND SLUICE GATE
A very attractive mill pond has been re-created, along with its sluice gate and pretty mill race - all located beside the Country Kitchen Tearoom.
FARM ANIMALS
Being based on a working farm there are cattle, calves, pigs and piglets to be seen in the immediate surroundings.
GRASSED RECREATION AREA + PLAY AREA
Extending down from the Waterwheel, Mill Pond and Country Kitchen Coffee Shop, towards the meandering River Gaunless, are extensive grassed areas for the enjoyment of visitors.
In addition, included within the development plans are a collection of varied children's play areas and activities. Watch out for further details.
OPEN VIEWS AND NATURE'S RICHES
Located in the valley of the River Gaunless below the nearby Bildershaw escarpment, there are open views to be enjoyed by our visitors.
Eventually we hope to develop a Nature Trail walk with regular information boards to make your ramble even more interesting.
