Custodians of Broom Mill Farm since 1987
Since Matthew and his family took over Broom Mill Farm in 1987, the mission has remained the same: to provide the community with meat that is reared with respect and transparency.
We are a working farm first and foremost. Every sausage in our deli and every steak in our kitchen comes from animals that have been allowed to grow at their own pace. We believe that happy animals make for better food.
Located in the heart of County Durham, Broom Mill Farm is dedicated to the principles of sustainable, low-impact agriculture. Since 1987, the Betney family has championed the 'Field to Fork' movement.
Our livestock, including our celebrated rare-breed pigs and grass-fed cattle, are raised using traditional husbandry techniques. By choosing Broom Mill, you are supporting a local ecosystem that prioritizes animal welfare and the preservation of the North East’s rich agricultural landscape.
We aren't a theme park. We are a real, working farm where the rhythm of the seasons dictates our menu.
We specialize in rare-breed pigs and grass-fed beef, preserving breeds that modern industry often forgets.
Our meat travels yards, not miles. From our pastures to our on-site butchery, then straight to your plate.
While we produce our own meat, we fill our shelves with the best of County Durham.
